transit system serving 38 of the 39 cities and towns that make up the State
of Rhode Island.
The RIPTA bus system includes:

• A separate bus garage covering Newport
• Buses operate 20.5 hours daily and travel 24,000 surface miles every day
• Buses operate 3,400 trips every weekday

• Buses carry 1.7 million riders monthly
